| Capital One Qualification/Approval Criteria |
Capital One® uses four categories, based on your credit rating, as criteria for qualifications and approvals. Some cards may have the same name, but up to three different requirements. Please make sure that you apply to the offer best suited for you.
Excellent Credit: (FICO Score: 720 or higher)
- Had a loan or credit card for at least 5 years
- Had a credit card with a limit above $10,000
- Have NEVER been more than 60 days late on a credit card, medical bill or loan payment
- Have never declared bankruptcy
Good Credit / Above Average Credit: (FICO Score: 675 - 719)
- Had a loan or credit card for three years or more
- Had a credit card with a limit above $5,000
- Have not been more than 60 days late on any credit card, medical bill, or loan payment in the last year
Average Credit: (FICO Score: 620 - 674)
- Currently have or have had a U.S. loan or credit card
- Credit limit on a current credit card, if any, is less than $5,000
- May have been late on more than one credit card, medical bill, or loan payment in the last six months
Limited History: (FICO Score: Below 620)
- Have had own credit card for less than three years or never had one
- Have a limited credit history, for example a student, or new to the country, or a young person working for a living, or have been an authorized user on someone else's credit card
- Have a valid credit score that can be found at one of the major credit reporting companies
